Both Press Clubs leaders and members have been reminded of the importance of UTPC’S existence as their pivotal umbrella body, without which they could never have made any tangible development strides we are seeing today.
For that reason, anybody bent on belittling and mud – slinging the said umbrella body’s Executive Director and his secretariat is being so unfair to oneself and the media stakeholders benefitting from it.
The reminder is contained in remarks made by UTPC President, Mr. Deogratias Nsokolo when he was officially closing a two – day UTPC Members General Meeting, held in Tanga between 15th and 16th September, 2017.
Looking conspicuously dismayed, the President pointed an accusing finger particularly to few Press Clubs leaders, whom he did not mention, and their accomplices, for spreading lies that Mr. Abubakar Karsan, an Executive Director, and his entire staff embezzle and misappropriate the Organization’s funds.
Mr. Nsokolo rubbished such a baseless assertion as complete gossip and intrigues aimed at nothing else but demoralizing the UTPC secretariat and Board members who, in his opinion, are transparency, honest, unselfish and diligent by any Tanzania’s standards.
He wondered saying if they were all greedy and undutiful as they allege, how the Press Clubs could be able to survive without UTPC’s financial, and material support, with Sida’s funding for more than a decade now!
Instead of blaming their Press Clubs’ own innovativeness and laissez-faire attitudes on other people, Mr. Nsokolo noted, respective leaders and members should start fulfilling their day – to – day obligations as responsibly as they can.
He urged the MGM and Press Clubs members to ignore the speculations and witch hunting saying if there was any wrong doing within UTPC, he would have been the first person to discover, having been a Board member for seven years consecutively and two years he has been in the current higher position ends.
