Sixty Press Clubs members exposed to training

As part and parcel of UTPC Strategic Plan (2016 -2020) implementation, training in Broadcasting, Rural reporting, Human & Democracy, Health reporting and Policy Analysis & Budget tracking disciplines took place this year alone, involving 60 Members in total, drawn from the country’s all 27 Press Clubs.

But, as in the past, the training was preceded by a four – day seminar otherwise popularly known as Training of Trainers (ToT) from 24th April, 2017, which was held in Singida and brought together 12 participants.

Standing (front) is Mr. Charles Kayoka from UDSM, facilitating Training of Trainers held in Singida from 24th to 28th April 2017. The training involved 12 facilitators of which 10 are men and 2 are women.

Led by Mr Charles Kayoka from Dar es Salaam, assisted by Mwanza – based Mr. Donald Kasongi, the facilitators two of whom were females learnt teaching techniques and methodologies, both theoretically and in practice.

The objective of the aforesaid training, which commenced almost immediately, afterwards, was to build capacity of the targeted Press Clubs members so that they become far more skilled in respective areas of study.

In addition, everywhere in the country where the training was conducted, its participants have had an opportunity to learn practically, for instance, how best they can broadcast a radio programme, when they visited Nyemo fm radio in Dodoma.

Upon completion of the training, each participant got a certificate of attendance, presented by UTPC Board of Directors, besides special contracts by which he or she outlined ones responsibilities while at a respective work place.
